About PEMBROKESHIRE

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park was established as such in 1952. It is the only coastal national park in the United Kingdom to have been designated primarily because of its spectacular coastline. It is one of three National Parks in Wales, the others being the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) and Snowdonia (Eryri).

The National Park has a varied landscape of rugged cliffs and varied geology, breathtaking  sandy beaches and secluded coves, with wooded estuaries and wild, vast inland hills.

The geology of the area is of particular interest with natural arches, stacks, rock folding and sea caves. The Preseli Hills are peppered with outstanding exposed rock formations popular with walkers. The area has historical points of interest with many ancient neolithic monuments and fort sites, castles and Napoleonic Fortresses.

The coastal path is mostly at cliff top level, ascending at numerous intervals to beautiful sandy beaches and secluded coves. The majority of beaches are either blue flag or green flag awarded, making Pembrokeshire a popular place for family and summer holidays. Pembrokeshire is a perfect place for walkers as the trails and coastal paths are connected extensively throughout the National Park.

Monk Haven is just 1 mile from the village of St Ishmaels and a short 5/10 minute drive from nearby villages of Dale, Marloes and St Brides. Martins Haven for Skomer Island is only a 10 minutes drive too. Little Haven and Broad Haven are only 10/15 minutes away by car. Pembrokeshire has so many wonderful places to discover and explore. Bosherston Lily Ponds, Stackpole Estate, St Davids (Britains smallest city), various botanical and ornamental gardens and Castell Henllys to name but a few.
